31 拉班说，我当给你什么呢？雅各说，什么你也不必给我，只有一件事，你若应承，我便仍旧牧放你的羊群。
〃What shall I give you？〃 he asked。 〃Don't give me anything；〃 Jacob replied。 〃But if you will do this one thing for me； I will go on tending your flocks and watching over them：
32 今天我要走遍你的羊群，把绵羊中凡有点的，有斑的，和黑色的，并山羊中凡有斑的，有点的，都挑出来。将来这一等的就算我的工价。
Let me go through all your flocks today and remove from them every speckled or spotted sheep； every dark…colored lamb and every spotted or speckled goat。 They will be my wages。
33 以后你来查看我的工价，凡在我手里的山羊不是有点有斑的，绵羊不是黑色的，那就算是我偷的。这样便可证出我的公义来。
And my honesty will testify for me in the future； whenever you check on the wages you have paid me。 Any goat in my possession that is not speckled or spotted； or any lamb that is not dark…colored； will be considered stolen。〃
34 拉班说，好啊！我情愿照着你的话行。
〃Agreed；〃 said Laban。 〃Let it be as you have said。〃
35 当日，拉班把有纹的，有斑的公山羊，有点的，有斑的，有杂白纹的母山羊，并黑色的绵羊，都挑出来，交在他儿子们的手下，
That same day he removed all the male goats that were streaked or spotted； and all the speckled or spotted female goats （all that had white on them） and all the dark…colored lambs； and he placed them in the care of his sons。
36 又使自己和雅各相离三天的路程。雅各就牧养拉班其余的羊。
Then he put a three…day journey between himself and Jacob； while Jacob continued to tend the rest of Laban's flocks。
37 雅各拿杨树，杏树，枫树的嫩枝，将皮剥成白纹，使枝子露出白的来，
Jacob； however； took fresh…cut branches from poplar； almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches。
38 将剥了皮的枝子，对着羊群，插在饮羊的水沟里和水槽里，羊来喝的时候，牝牡配合。
Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs； so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink。 When the flocks were in heat and came to drink；
39 羊对着枝子配合，就生下有纹的，有点的，有斑的来。
they mated in front of the branches。 And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted。
40 雅各把羊羔分出来，使拉班的羊与这有纹和黑色的羊相对，把自己的羊另放一处，不叫他和拉班的羊混杂。
Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves； but made the rest face the streaked and dark…colored animals that belonged to Laban。 Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban's animals。
41 到羊群肥壮配合的时候，雅各就把枝子插在水沟里，使羊对着枝子配合。
Whenever the stronger females were in heat； Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches；
42 只是到羊瘦弱配合的时候就不插枝子。这样，瘦弱的就归拉班，肥壮的就归雅各。
but if the animals were weak； he would not place them there。 So the weak animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob。
43 于是雅各极其发大，得了许多的羊群，仆婢，骆驼，和驴。
In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks； and maidservants and menservants； and camels and donkeys。
1 雅各听见拉班的儿子们有话说，雅各把我们父亲所有的都夺了去，并借着我们父亲的，得了这一切的荣耀（荣耀或作财）。
Jacob heard that Laban's sons were saying； 〃Jacob has taken everything our father owned and has gained all this wealth from what belonged to our father。〃
2 雅各见拉班的气色向他不如从前了。
And Jacob noticed that Laban's attitude toward him was not what it had been。
3 耶和华对雅各说，你要回你祖，你父之地，到你亲族那里去，我必与你同在。
Then the LORD said to Jacob； 〃Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives； and I will be with you。〃
4 雅各就打发人，叫拉结和利亚到田野羊群那里来，
So Jacob sent word to Rachel and Leah to e out to the fields where his flocks were。
5 对她们说，我看你们父亲的气色向我不如从前了。但我父亲的神向来与我同在。
He said to them； 〃I see that your father's attitude toward me is not what it was before； but the God of my father has been with me。
6 你们也知道，我尽了我的力量服事你们的父亲。
You know that I've worked for your father with all my strength；
7 你们的父亲欺哄我，十次改了我的工价。然而神不容他害我。
yet your father has cheated me by changing my wages ten times。 However； God has not allowed him to harm me。
8 他若说，有点的归你作工价，羊群所生的都有点。他若说，有纹的归你作工价，羊群所生的都有纹。
If he said； 'The speckled ones will be your wages；' then all the flocks gave birth to speckled young； and if he said； 'The streaked ones will be your wages；' then all the flocks bore streaked young。
9 这样，神把你们父亲的牲畜夺来赐给我了。
So God has taken away your father's livestock and has given them to me。
10 羊配合的时候，我梦中举目一看，见跳母羊的公羊都是有纹的，有点的，有花斑的。
〃In breeding season I once had a dream in which I looked up and saw that the male goats mating with the flock were streaked； speckled or spotted。
11 神的使者在那梦中呼叫我说，雅各，我说，我在这里。
The angel of God said to me in the dream； 'Jacob。' I answered； 'Here I am。'
12 他说，你举目观看，跳母羊的公羊都是有纹的，有点的，有花斑的。凡拉班向你所作的，我都看见了。
And he said； 'Look up and see that all the male goats mating with the flock are streaked； speckled or spotted； for I have seen all that Laban has been doing to you。
13 我是伯特利的神。你在那里用油浇过柱子，向我许过愿。现今你起来，离开这地，回你本地去吧。
I am the God of Bethel； where you anointed a pillar and where you made a vow to me。 Now leave this land at once and go back to your native land。'〃
14 拉结和利亚回答雅各说，在我们父亲的家里还有我们可得的分吗？还有我们的产业吗？
Then Rachel and Leah replied； 〃Do we still have any share in the inheritance of our father's estate？
15 我们不是被他当作外人吗？因为他卖了我们，吞了我们的价值。
Does he not regard us as foreigners？ Not only has he sold us； but he has used up what was paid for us。
16 神从我们父亲所夺出来的一切财物，那就是我们和我们孩子们的。现今凡神所吩咐你的，你只管去行吧。
Surely all the wealth that God took away from our father belongs to us and our children。 So do whatever God has told you。〃
17 雅各起来，使他的儿子和妻子都骑上骆驼，
Then Jacob put his children and his wives on camels；
18 又带着他在巴旦亚兰所得的一切牲畜和财物，往迦南地，他父亲以撒那里去了。
and he drove all his livestock ahead of him； along with all the goods he had accumulated in Paddan Aram； to go to his father Isaac in the land of Canaan。
19 当时拉班剪羊毛去了，拉结偷了他父亲家中的神像。
When Laban had gone to shear his sheep； Rachel stole her father's household gods。
20 雅各背着亚兰人拉班偷走了，并不告诉他，
Moreover； Jacob deceived Laban the Aramean by not telling him he was running away。
21 就带着所有的逃跑。他起身过大河，面向基列山行去。
So he fled with all he had； and crossing the River； he headed for the hill country of Gilead。
22 到第三日，有人告诉拉班，雅各逃跑了。
On the third day Laban was told that Jacob had fled。
23 拉班带领他的众弟兄去追赶，追了七日，在基列山就追上了。
Taking his relatives with him； he pursued Jacob for seven days and caught up with him in the hill country of Gilead。
24 夜间，神到亚兰人拉班那里，在梦中对他说，你要小心，不可与雅各说好说歹。
Then God came to Laban the Aramean in a dream at night and said to him； 〃Be careful not to say anything to Jacob； either good or bad。〃
25 拉班追上雅各。雅各在山上支搭帐棚。拉班和他的众弟兄也在基列山上支搭帐棚。
Jacob had pitched his tent in the hill country of Gilead when Laban overtook him； and Laban and his relatives camped there too。
26 拉班对雅各说，你作的是什么事呢？你背着我偷走了，又把我的女儿们带了去，如同用刀剑掳去的一般。
Then Laban said to Jacob； 〃What have you done？ You've deceived me； and you've carried off my daughters like captives in war。
27 你为什么暗暗地逃跑，偷着走，并不告诉我，叫我可以欢乐，唱歌，击鼓，弹琴地送你回去？
Why did you run off secretly and deceive me？ Why didn't you tell me； so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of tambourines and harps？
28 又不容我与外孙和女儿亲嘴。你所行的真是愚昧。
You didn't even let me kiss my grandchildren and my daughters good…by。 You have done a foolish thing。
29 我手中原有能力害你，只是你父亲的神昨夜对我说，你要小心，不可与雅各说好说歹。
I have the power to harm you； but last night the God of your father said to me； 'Be careful not to say anything to Jacob； either good or bad。'
30 现在你虽然想你父家，不得不去，为什么又偷了我的神像呢？
Now you have gone off because you longed to return to your father's house。 But why did you steal my gods？〃
31 雅各回答拉班说，恐怕你把你的女儿从我夺去，所以我逃跑。
Jacob answered Laban； 〃I was afraid； because I thought you would take your daughters away from me by force。
32 至于你的神像，你在谁那里搜出来，就不容谁存活。当着我们的众弟兄，你认一认，在我这里有什么东西是你的，就拿去。原来雅各不知道拉结偷了那些神像。
But if you find anyone who has your gods； he shall not live。 In the presence of our relatives
