    POTHECARIE。 Maddame�察�I beseech your grace to except this simple

    Exit Pothecary。

     QUEENE   MOTHER。   My  noble   sonne�察  �and   princely  Duke   of   Guise�察�

Now   have   we   got   the   fatall   stragling   deere�察  �Within   the   compasse   of   a 

deadly toyle�察�And as we late decreed we may perfourme。

     GUISE。 Thus Madame。 They that shalbe actors in this Massacre�察�Shall

about their   armes。   He   that   wantes these�察�and is suspect   of heresie�察  �Shall 

dye�察�or be he King or Emperour。 Then Ile have a peale of ordinance shot 

from the tower�察�At which they all shall issue out and set the streetes。 And 

then the watchword being given�察�a bell shall ring�察�Which when they heare�察�

     GUISE。 And I will goe take order for his death。 

     Exit Guise。 

     Enter the Admirall in his bed。 

     CHARLES。 How  fares   it with   my  Lord   high Admiral�察 �Hath he   been 

hurt with villaines in the street�拭�I vow and sweare as I am King of France�察�

To finde and to repay the man with death�此�With death delay'd and torments 

never usde�察�That durst presume for hope of any gaine�察�To hurt the noble 

man his sovereign loves。 

     ADMIRALL。 Ah my good Lord�察�these are the Guisians�察�That seeke to 

massacre our guiltles lives。 

     CHARLES。         Assure    your   selfe  my    good   Lord    Admirall�察   �I  deepely 

sorrow for your trecherous wrong�此�And that I am not more secure my selfe�察�

Then   I   am  carefull   you   should be preserved。  Cossin�察�take   twenty  of   our 

strongest   guarde�察�And under   your   direction   see they  keep All   trecherous 

violence from our noble freend�察�Repaying all attempts with present death�察�

Upon   the   cursed   breakers   of   our   peace。   And   so   be   pacient   good   Lord
